BSMA Semi-Finals 12th June 2005 – Armthorpe, Doncaster
3 Races – 3 Wins!
Today’s racing was excellent, everything went really well. I decided after the disappointment of last weekend to try a different strategy for my gating …. and it worked! We had a 20 minute practice session, there was no timed qualifying at this round.
Race 1
I gated really well, I was 3rd into the first corner and after a couple more corners I was up to 2nd chasing Aaron Smith. We had a good close battle for most of the race and had pulled a considerable lead away from the rest of the pack. I managed to pass him when we started lapping slower riders. Once passed him, I pulled away to give myself a comfortable lead – 1st chequered flag of the day.
Race 2
Again, I gated really well, this time 2nd into the first corner, again with Aaron Smith in front of me. During the first lap I managed to pass him and pull away again and led for the rest of the race. This was the 2nd chequered flag of the day.
Race 3
A good start again, 2nd into the first corner again but the start was declared false and we were signalled back to the gates to re-start, then the heavens opened just before the re-start. Again, a re-run of the last 3 starts, 2nd into the first corner, 1st into the 2nd corner and that was me in the lead for the rest of the race again. I had pulled that much of a lead that I had plenty of time when it came to taking my goggles off as I could no longer see where I was going! 3 wins out of 3 races.
This guarantees my place in the BSMA Finals which takes place at the Foxhills track on 13th & 14th August 2005, I am really looking forward to this, it is also a track that I enjoy and now that I seem to have my gating sorted out I feel really confident.
My next race meeting will be next weekend (18th & 19th June 2005) at Brookthorpe in Gloucestershire which is Round 4 of the BSMA Championship.
I look forward to seeing you there!
I am also still looking for a new sponsor to help me with my moto-x career. Please email me if you can help in anyway. Thank you to RockOil, Thor, Gear4 and Paul.

Haverigg 4th & 5th June 2005 – BYMX Round 3
Beaten By The Gates!
This track was really good to ride although sandy which is not my favourite. I qualified in 8th position, which was good considering the opposition.
I was not getting out of the gates as I would have liked and this was causing me to have a lot of work to do in each race. I was arriving at the first corner around the middle of the pack whilst the leaders were already starting to pull away.
Each of the 4 races was pretty much the same as, poor gating followed by a lot of hard work to get near the leaders.
Qualified 8th
Race 1 6th
Race 2 7th
Race 3 12th
Race 4 7th
I was not happy with my performance here over the weekend, my gating was letting me down, but still managed to earn good points to retain my 6th position overall in the championship.
I am looking forward to my next race meeting, which is next weekend at Armthorpe near Doncaster for the BSMA Semi-Finals on Sunday 12th June 2005.
I look forward to seeing you there!
I am also still looking for a new sponsor to help me with my moto-x career. Please email me if you can help in anyway. Thank you to RockOil, Thor, Gear4 and Paul.
